Seville is about 30 minutes away by car (there's also a very efficient train, and buses run several times a day); The Giralda and Cathedral are worth it on their own but there is so much in Seville to enjoy, and if you happen to be around, Semana Santa and the feria in May are spectacular.

Cordoba is a lovely town and you can't miss the Mezquita, the only mosque with a cathedral inside it. The festival of the patios is held in the first two weeks of May, preceded by the Cruces de Mayo celebration and that is followed by the main feria.

Granada is within easy reach if you wish to visit the famous Alhambra (booking advised), and you could even get to the sierranevada mountains and back in a day if you want to go sking!!
